Counterparts to Keegan's mystical, often haunting faces can be found high in the European Alps, etched into the craggy cliffs by the forces of nature. As an art form, shepherds have traditionally carved these faces in avalanche wood. Keegan, who studied under master carvers in Austria and is the author of well over 10,000 such faces, now creates his sculpture in lava rock, a medium that makes the art work also suitable for landscape architecture. Lava sculpture is appropriate for outdoor placement in all kinds of weather. It is light in weight, easily moved about, and porous so water will not freeze in it causing it to crack. Several of these garden sculptures have been placed in Alaska. Alpine garden art will truly be a unique addition to your garden or landscape.
